Week 5
Sept 22-24
Reading:
This week we will be
reading contemporary folktales. we will be comparing two folktales character,
setting, and plot.
Make sure your child
understands the reason a sentences has a ? . ! Punctuation marks at the end of
a sentence help determine what the author is trying to say and what kind of a
voice the reader should use when reading.
Math:
Continue practicing
place value and comparing numbers to 1200. A lot of students are struggling
with the understanding of number values (meaning how many objects 570 is
compared to 750). I will often ask if it (the number) was _?_ which would your
want?
This week we will be
working with money (coins to one dollar).
The students will need to identify coins (penny, nickel, dime, quarter,
and half-dollar) their value, and count mixed coins. We use a process called
Hairy Money to help remember the value. My best suggestion is give you child a
few coins and have them count them regularly.
Spelling Words:
Test will be on the last day of the week.
